2023 Harvest at Pago de Carraovejas

The winter was mild, with few days below zero. In early April, a few light frosts slightly affected some buds, although sprouting developed normally in mid-April.

The summer was dry and hot, with a heatwave at the end of August. On 3 and 4 September, torrential rains brought freshness to the vineyard. Harvest began on 16 September with the Merlot variety and ended on 9 October with the Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes.

Winemaking and ageing

In the winery, a double selection of bunches and berries was carried out after a first selection in the vineyard. The must was moved by gravity, preserving the integrity of the grapes.

During fermentation, native yeasts and lactic bacteria from the estate were used. The wine was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels of 225 and 600 litres.

Finally, it was fined with natural egg white and bottled in the spring of 2025. Contains sulfites.
